BIA attracts big group of builders for 2016 Parade of Homes

The Building Industry Association of Central Ohio’s smallest Parade of Homes in 10 years could be followed by one of the biggest in more than a decade.

The homebuilders’ trade association has unveiled a list of 16 regional homebuilders selecting lots in the Verona subdivision in Powell for the annual showcase of upscale homes slated for July 16-31.

The entries into the home tour include five of the mere six homebuilders that showed off their custom-quality homes at the mid-September launch of the residential community surrounding the Northstar Golf Club near Sunbury.

Coppertree Homes, M/I Homes, P&D BuildersRockford Homes and Weaver Homes will return for the 2016 home tour. Fischer Homes will not participate.

The other homebuilders joining or, in most cases, rejoining the showcase in 2016 are: 3 Pillar Homes; Bob Webb Homes;Compass Homes; Dani Homes; Manor Homes; Memmer Homes; New England Homes; Pulte Homes; Romanelli & Hughes; Sierra Custom Homes; and Trinity Homes.

Romanelli & Hughes is the host land developer that will create 112 lots for single-family homes and sites for 54 patio homes on the former Shamrock Golf Club course.

The developer made 18 lots available to BIA members.

“Powell is one of the hottest areas in the (housing) market,” BIA Board of Trustees Senior Vice President Joel Rhoades said in a news release. “People want to live there and builders want to build there.”

Rhoades serves as general counsel and vice president for condo developer Epcon Communities.

The home show attracted seven builders in 2008 in the midst of the Great Recession and eight two years later.

The home tour attracted 19 builders in 2005 in the Glenross subdivision in Delaware. It attract 21 homebuilders each in 2003 and 2004 when the BIA showcased homes in Dublin's Ballantrae and Pickerington's Shawnee Crossing subdivisions, respectively.
